Are you a GP - would you like to join the Team?
Following the successful bid for the Community Health Services contract, we are delighted that after thirteen years the Tower Hamlets GP Out of Hour’s service is back with Primary Care under the direct management of the Tower Hamlets GP Care Group.
A good local Out of Hours Service enables us to manage the increasing demand for in hours Primary Care. Any problems with Out of Hours cover in evenings and nights will inevitably impact on workload on the following day. Many of you will be aware that it has been increasingly challenging in recent times to provide cover at specific times. Without consistent cover the Out of Hours service will wither and perhaps transform in to a service that we cannot recognise and we would not wish to support. In order to help us continue to collectively provide an Out of Hours service of quality for our patients we are asking all of our local doctors for their support, encouraging more of our Tower Hamlets GPs to work within the Out of Hours service as well as doctors from other surrounding areas. You do not have to make a huge time commitment to make a real difference; many of the GPs who currently work in the service, work the hours that suit and even 4 hours a month would make a real difference. We are aware that there are issues with indemnity. We have therefore put in place professional insurance cover for all GPs working in Out of Hours. We know that there have been challenges with signing up to work in the service in the recent past and requirements that have been overbearing. The new recruitment process is more straightforward and you can be guided and helped through this process by our friendly back of office team. Payment can be offered in one of two ways. You can choose to have a zero hours contract with the THGPCG with tax, NI and pension (if required) contributions deducted at source; these contracts also attract a 12.07% payment for annual leave each month. You may prefer to be paid by invoice using Network Locums whereby the IR35, tax and NI will be left as the responsibiltiy of the individual. One of the many attactions for joining us is the opportunity to network with other local doctors and to work alongside the incredibly loyal Out of Hours team whom many of you will know. We do hope that you will consider signing up with us to continue to provide great care for Tower Hamlets patients when the surgeries are closed.
